New Zealand’s National Insitute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) came across something strange when they were sifting through seal faeces they had collected in 2017.
A USB was found to be frozen within the seal poop – and to their surprise, it was in perfect working order.
Pictures and videos found on the USB showed seals swimming in the ocean as the owner was kayaking somewhere around Invercargill, New Zealand.
NIWA uploaded one particular video to Twitter in an attempt to find the owner so they can reclaim their possession. Is it yours?

However, they do have one condition: if the owner of the USB wants it back, they have to bring along a bag of seal faeces to trade for the USB. Yes, we’re serious.
Don’t worry, they provide instruction on how to retrieve the faeces safely.
