A man won $1 from a scratch-it lottery ticket and demanded a huge novelty cheque

A man in Iowa won just $1 from his scratch-it ticket, but that didn’t discourage the guy from going all the way to the company’s headquarters to claim his cheque.

In January, Tyler Heep used some change to buy a few scratch-and-win lottery tickets. He wasn’t having the best of luck, and won just $1.40.

However the small winnings didn’t seem to spoil his sense of… ‘gamesmanship’?

I suspect Mr Heep is a highly enthusiastic individual with a tonne of spare time, because despite the tiny loot, he decided to drive all the way to the Iowa Lottery headquarters. He not only wanted to claim his winnings – he demanded that it be done in style.

Funnily enough, the company saw the hilarity of the situation and yielded to his request. They agreed to give him the jackpot winner treatment, inclusive of a huge cheque.

“They decided to treat me like a million dollar winner,” Heep said to local station NBC 13 News. “The guy came down the stairs and they took me into the back room where the camera was with the Iowa Lottery logo.”

“Sure enough, they wrote me the one dollar check and had me hold it up and took the picture.”

How would you spend your lottery winnings? Heep used his to pay for half a gallon of gas.
