China has become the first country to successfully land on the far side of the moon, also known as the ‘dark’ side of the moon.
It is commonly mistaken for the dark side of the moon as it is the side that faces away from the Earth and much of it is unknown.
The Chang’e 4 landed inside the Von Kármán Crater on January 3rd 2019 and has also successfully deployed its rover, Yutu-2.
We have seen pictures from both Chang’e 4 and Yutu-2 which provides panoramic views of the moon’s surface and proves that the ‘dark’ side of the moon is not very dark at all.
China’s National Space Administration has since released a video which depicts the smooth landing of Chang’e 4 onto the surface of the moon.
The first vision we see of this mysterious side of the moon.
