Sylvester Stallone’s emotional farewell to ‘Rocky’ and touching tribute to Michael B. Jordan

After two Creed films and six Rocky instalments – some unforgettable, some regrettable – Sylvester Stallone is saying goodbye to the US$1.4 billion franchise.

For now, at least.

In a touching speech shared on his Instagram page, the 72-year-old took a moment to reflect on his career as he hangs up the gloves as one of cinema’s most iconic characters.

Side note: Stallone is 72 years old? Time flies.

It’s hard to say whether Stallone’s retirement from the franchise will endure the inevitable giant cheque offered by a nameless executive for a starring role in a reboot, but something tells me he’s genuinely happy to be seeing the end of it.
