7-ELEVEN has released a new campaign urging customers to purchase their condoms at the convenience chain, especially if they are thinking of visiting Norway.
Among other channels, the campaign has been promoted with a video advertisement which starts off as a seemingly run-of-the-mill tourism campaign for Norway. It shows Norway’s scenic landscapes and lists the things that Norway is famous for.
But the ad’s unexpected nod to Norway’s unusually high chlamydia rate is what has the Internet buzzing, and, understandably, Norway and its tourism board is less than happy about it.
