How to swap your dumb old speaker for a state-of-the-art smart speaker

“The best things in life are free” is a saying we take very seriously in our offices.

Which is why, if you happen to be in Melbourne on the 2nd and 3rd of June, you could get your hands on a brand-new smart speaker for nothing. Zip. Nada.

The Low-down

Our friends at Sonos, along with Lost At E Minor – our sister site for everything arts, music and culture – are throwing an absolutely riveting event in Collingwood on the 2nd and 3rd of June.

The event is a celebration of music and creativity across two action-packed days.

And get this: if you bring in your dumb old speaker on the Saturday and are one of the first 200 people through the door, they’ll swap your old speaker for a brand-new Sonos One!

Yep. That shabby old speaker that’s been drowned in one too many vodka sodas could soon be enjoying its well-earned retirement as you blast tunes on a shiny new smart speaker.

The event will also feature the incredible Aussie artists George Rose, who on the Saturday will be turning all of your old speakers into an art installation, and muralist Carla McRae, who will create a stunning artwork throughout Sunday.

McRae’s work won’t just be a treat to look at, either. At the end of the event, the piece will be sold in a silent auction with all proceeds going to The Song Room, a not-for-profit organisation which offers tailored music and arts programs to Australia’s most disadvantaged children.

Now, that’s something we can all get around.

If you’re not one of the first 200 people through the door on the Saturday (or can only make the Sunday), don’t fret. Everyone who attends will score a $50 Sonos voucher and catch some truly incredible artwork being created by talented Aussie artists.

Enough chit-chat, tell me when and where!

When: 2nd June (10am – 4pm) and 3rd June (11am – 3pm)
Where: Besser Space in Collingwood, Melbourne.

If you want to join the Lost At E Minor crew to celebrate art and music, check out the Facebook Event for all the terms and conditions and be one of the first find out where we’ll be hosting the event.

See you there!
