We’ve all felt the need to do something drastic after a fight.
But one 12-year-old from Sydney really went the extra mile. After fighting with his mother, he took her credit card and flew all the way to Bali to enjoy a relaxing holiday at the All Seasons hotel.
Apparently, nobody thought to question the boy – who is remaining unnamed due to his age – except once, at Perth Airport.
The Sydney schoolboy had to change in Perth, where officials requested to see proof of his age to determine he was 12 or over.
Speaking to A Current Affair, the boy said, “They just asked for my student ID and passport to prove that I’m over 12 and that I’m in secondary school.”
“It was great because I wanted to go on an adventure.”
On landing in Bali, he checked into the exclusive All Seasons hotel, where he told staff he was waiting for his sister.
The 12-year-old told his parents he was going to school.
Instead, he rode his scooter to the train station, where he caught a train to the airport and checked in using a self-service terminal. Shortly afterwards, he flew to Perth and jumped on the next flight to Bali.
His parents were only notified when the school called to ask why he was absent.
After discovering he was in fact on holiday in a foreign country, his mum flew out to bring him home.
“Shocked, disgusted, there’s no emotion to feel what we felt when we found he left overseas,” she told A Current Affair.
