In his most recent video, everybody’s favourite New Zealand-based YouTuber How to DAD covers the things that set us Aussies apart from our cousins across the pond.
How to DAD (aka Jordan Watson) has developed a loyal audience for his ‘blokey’ parenting tips that are aided by his two adorable toddler-aged daughters.
For his latest video, with his international audience in mind, How to DAD has set out to help foreigners identify the key differences between Australians and New Zealanders.
In doing so, he’s attempted to settle the fiery debate over who invented what, in addition to providing explanations on what some of our most loved everyday items are called.
Although How to DAD points out some obvious differences, such as kangaroos vs kiwis and budgie smugglers vs the “family friendly” togs, he still carries some resentment over the true origins of pavlova, accusing us Aussies of stealing the delicious dessert from our island neighbour.
Keeping his videos fresh with his awkward but endearing persona, How to DAD’s emerging channel has featured parenting tips from the likes of Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Mel Gibson and John Lithgow.
And with more than 180,000 YouTube subscribers, it’s obviously working.
Whether it’s changing nappies, providing support through childbirth or getting kids to eat their vegetables, How to DAD combines his parenting talents with a love of New Zealand and the country’s idiosyncratic culture to give fellow fathers some much-needed assistance.
