Why do people trust satire more than traditional news?

For whatever reason, there has been a massive shift in people’s trust in the media in the digital age.

Gone are the days when major news networks and papers were the trustworthy sources of information that they once were.

Social media has seen enormous volumes of social news competing with traditional news for our attention, and one unlikely proponent has emerged as one of the most trustworthy sources of news; Satire.

To find out exactly why so much trust has been placed in the comedy of ridiculing society’s flaws, we caught up with the editors of The Onion and picked their brains.
