The Onion editors try their best to identify real Aussie headlines

From the Betoota Advocate to Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell, Australian news has no shortage of satire.

However, we also boast one of the most bizarre news cycles in the world.

With onion-chomping prime ministers and obscure tales coming from newspapers the likes of Northern Territory News, satire can sometimes feel more authentic than reality.

When we were visited by the satirical masterminds behind The Onion last year, we decided to quiz them on which Aussie headlines were real and which were too bizarre – even for us.
