A legendary Twitter employee just deactivated Donald Trump’s account on his last day at work

For eleven peaceful minutes, just before 7 PM ET (10 AM AEST) Donald Trump’s personal Twitter account, @realdonaldtrump, did not exist.

Anyone searching for the president’s Twitter account during the oh-so-brief hiatus was met with an error page claiming “That page doesn’t exist”. For about an hour after the account was restored, Twitter did not respond to requests for comment.

When they finally did release a statement, it was Twitter’s government and election’s account that tweeted, stating that it had been accidentally deleted by a Twitter employee, and was nothing more than human error.

The disappearance left many Twitter users puzzled as they tried to figure out if The Donald had deleted it himself, or if calls to delete the account had finally been heard.

The page returned as quickly as it was deleted, but Twitter shocked everyone soon after with the actual reason it was removed.

What. An. Absolute. LEGEND. When it comes to antics on the last day of your job, this could be the biggest middle finger of all time.

Although it took just 11 minutes for Trump’s account to be restored, the comedians of Twitter had already gone to town on it.

The disappearance occurred amidst ongoing calls for Twitter to ban Trump on the grounds that he violates their terms and services by inciting violence.
