HBO releases 8 new photos from the Game of Thrones premiere

The long wait for Season Seven is almost over and in a final attempt to create max hype, HBO has released eight new photos.

The images are all taken from the first episode of Season Seven, which will premiere in Australia at 11am on Monday, July 17 on Foxtel.

The pictures are of Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and Podrick Payne (Daniel Portman) sparring, Lyanna Mormont (Bella Ramsey), an unknown man painting a map, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson), Daenerys at Dragonstone, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), and Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) and Dolorous Edd (Ben Crompton) with members of the Night’s Watch.

You can see the full gallery here.

Perhaps most interesting is the appearance of Meera.

In case you forgot – which is understandable given the complexity of the show and time between seasons – Meera was last seen dragging Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) to the Wall.

The picture indicates that Meer (and Bran?) are now behind the Wall with the Night’s Watch. Presumably, Dolorous Edd will be able to inform Bran of Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) plans and we will get a Stark family reunion. Hmmmm those rarely go well though, right?

Bran knows something that Jon might be interested in learning. Season Six concluded with Bran’s vision of his Aunt Lyanna’s (Aisling Franciosi) death and the birth of Jon. This vision is important because it apparently confirms one of the show’s longest running fan theories: that Jon and Daenerys are related since he is half Targaryen.

There will be no more trailers or photos ahead of the new episode so until Sunday (Monday in Australia) this is it, folks. In the meantime, you can check out Kit Harington’s never-before-seen Game of Thrones Audition tape(s):
