It seems that Disney’s thirst to relive the ’90s will never be quenched.
It was recently announced (via The Wrap) that a live-action remake of the children’s classic movie ‘The Lion King’ is underway.
The director, Jon Favreau, is the same director who recently remade ‘The Jungle Book’. He’s also – and personally, I think this is a better fun fact – the actor who played Monica’s almost-fiancé who loved wrestling on Friends.
John Oliver will be joined by several comedians and actors to voice characters for the film. Donald Glover will voice Simba, James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa, and Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner Pumbaa and Timon – can’t wait to see the Timon and Pumbaa episode of ‘Billy on the Street’!
The film won’t have the traditional “live action” aspect, so you won’t see Oliver himself dressed up as a snarky bird. Instead, we can expect a hyper-realistic CGI world like ‘The Jungle Book’.
Until we see the first trailer is released, or Oliver chats about it on his show, we’ll have to content ourselves with singing along to the original.
