Photo of bloke leaving London Bridge terror attack pint-in-hand shatters the Internet

Call it a desire to return to normalcy.

A picture of man calmly fleeing the London Bridge attack while still holding a pint has gone viral as the British try to process the events of the weekend.

The British are known for their dry and often dark humour, and many have latched onto the image as a cheeky symbol of defiance.

The picture was tweeted by a Twitter user with less than 500 followers and it has gone on to be retweeted 33,000 times and received 100,000 likes.

Other Twitter users were quick to join in, with some pointing out it may have had something to do with beer prices in the English capital:

And others labeled it an example of British pride:

Following the attack, English comedian Chris Addison called on people to tweet ways in which they were just getting on with life.

This led to others sharing slices of their normal lives with the hashtag “#reeling”.

Seven people died and 48 were injured in the terrorist attack in London on Saturday night.

The humour expressed by these tweets in no way minimises the suffering of the victims and their families. But, it does show that laughter is still often the best medicine and that life must go on. For the people of London, terror will not win.
