Looks like the Uber app has some…um…’kinks’…they have to sort out.
Daniel Moore’s an Uber driver in Sydney who got slightly more than he bargained for when he picked up a client last week.
He was supposed to pick up a woman named Chelsea in the inner-city suburb of Darlinghurst.
Thinking he was at the pick-up point, he saw a lady, pulled over and she jumped into his car.
Thanks to the magic of dash-cam footage we get to witness the whole glorious mess unfold as the pair sift through the confusion and eventually figure out what happened.
(Make sure you watch till the end of the video when the real Chelsea calls, it’s priceless.)
Props to both Daniel and ‘Fake Chelsea’ for handling an intensely awkward and baffling situation with such maturity and politeness.
Speaking to Seven News, Daniel said the situation was “uncomfortable” and “strange” which is fair enough, but also spare a thought for the poor sex worker who got into a stranger’s car and was then faced with the potentially terrifying prospect that this random man didn’t have any intentions to have sex with her at all.
Prostitution, for those wondering, is completely legal in Sydney and New South Wales – but you do have to have a license and follow a fairly lengthy laundry list of regulations.
