Forget reindeer and a sleigh, in Xmas 2016 Santa got around via drone

YouTuber Casey Neistat decided to up the ante a bit for Christmas 2016, producing a video of himself as a snowboarding Santa.

What makes it special is the fact that instead of a sleigh, this Santa flies thanks to a giant drone.

The footage was shot in a small village in Finland, using a custom-made drone that Neistat’s team built for the stunt.

The beastly octocopter drone has eight rotors and enough power to get Neistat off the ground.

Needless to say, don’t try this at home (not that you could):

To produce the incredible video, Neistat teamed up with fellow ‘Tuber Jesse Wellens – famous for the channel PrankvsPrank, where Wellens posted behind-the-scenes footage.

Neistat first appeared on YouTube in 2010, and slowly garnered viewers through videos on a variety of topics, such as the New York City subway, Chatroulette and New York City bicycle lanes.

In 2015, he started to produce a daily vlog, and co-created an app called Beme. Later that year, CNN reportedly acquired the app for around $AU340 million. Ka-ching!

Neistat is also known for his partnership with major brands – in 2012, he produced a video for Nike called ‘Make it Count’, and this drone snowboarding stuff was shot with the help of Samsung. Lucky it didn’t blow up, right?

Jokes aside, a drone flying a human is pretty cool – at least that was what you might think until seeing the Indian version.

Indian YouTuber Ashi_vlogs came up with this gem on the same day Neistat released his video. Think about it: literally the day he saw Neistat’s video, he went outside and did this. Now that’s ambition.

Are you sitting down? Good. Prepare yourself for this.

And, just as a warning, the techno version of ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ used here might give your ears Ebola:

OK, so don’t try that at home either.

The great tragedy is Ashi_vlogs only has 207 subscribers, while Neistat has over 6 million. Further proof that there is no justice in this world.
