Two Aussie blokes with the same name start the greatest bromance story of all time

There are many legendary Australian yarns, but this my friends, might be the best of them all.

The Man From Snowy River, the expedition of Burke and Wills and the tale of Ned Kelly are all iconic Australian stories, but now we’ve finally got one for the digital age.

Sam James Mitchell is a regular Aussie dude from Launceston in Tasmania, but his world changed forever when he discovered another Sam James Mitchell on Facebook.

Inspired, he sent a message to his brother-in-name just to say g’day.

To formally recognise their new friendship, the pair added each other on FB, where things went from 0 to 100, pretty damn quickly.

Yep. They followed through.

Tassie Sam’s mates all chipped in to fly Pommy Sam over from Melbourne to Tassie for New Year’s Eve where they kicked off the greatest bromance this world has ever seen.

The pair started the inaugural ‘Sam Mitchell Olympics’ – a noble competition consisting of events such as bucket races, boat races, heinous eating challenges and beer pong.

And they consummated their bromance to ring in the new year.

After showing him the sights of Tassie for one last day, Pommy Sam returned to Melbourne.

It seems like this is the beginning of a movement though, with Tassie Sam wanting all the Sam Mitchells in the world to come together for an epic, global iteration of the Sam Mitchell Olympics.

How. Good.

It’s well worth your time to check out the entire photo gallery of this epic tale over at Imgur.
