Sousaphone player spectacularly trolls the KKK at a rally

A rally of gun-toting, racist skinheads is a pretty terrifying prospect… until a hero with a sousaphone comes along.

The Ku Klux Klan (apparently they’re still a thing) decided to protest the South Carolina government’s decision to remove the Confederate flag from statehouse grounds.

But Matt Buck, a Columbia local, might have just figured out the best way to overcome their racism: ridicule.

As the Klan marched towards the statehouse, he followed next to them playing the same comical, lumbering riff Stewie from Family Guy uses when he “got a job following around a fat guy with a tuba”.

And to top it off, he finishes with an ironic performance of Wagner’s ‘Ride of the Valkyrie’.

The whole time, the Klan protesters are completely oblivious to how ridiculous they look, continuing to march completely unfazed by the goofy soundtrack accompanying them.

“I didn’t really know how to show my opposition, so that was my way of doing it,” Buck told the Charleston City Paper.

“My goal was to embarrass them, and I think I did a little bit.”

Norman Jewison once said “the marriage of the moving image and music is perhaps the most powerful visual communication we have” and I can’t help but agree.

With just a few notes, this legend has turned a hate-fuelled rally into a farce. Encore!
