In Hong Kong, Pizza Hut is giving away free movie projectors to film-loving customers. The catch: it’s made of cardboard.
Designed by creative agency Ogilvy & Mather Hong Kong, the ‘Blockbuster Box’ is a mobile movie projector that’s fashioned out of the pizza box itself.
To use it, simply take the lens attached to the pizza table – that mysterious tiny white plastic thing in the middle of the pizza – and attach it to a perforated hole in the box. Then, scan the QR code with your smartphone and choose from the following films: Anchovy Armageddon (sci-fi), Hot and Ready (romance), Slice Night (horror), and Fully Loaded (action).
Use the pizza table again to prop up your phone, dim the lights, and there you have it, instant movie night!
You might want to set your expectations accordingly though, this is after all just a cardboard box. Plus, you have to take the entire pie out – which kinda defeats the purpose of having a box to keep it warm and gooey. Then there’s the not-so-high-def video quality and the muffled audio (we assume pizza boxes don’t have the best acoustics for phone speakers).
Oh, and speaking of your phone, it might smell like pizza afterwards – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
