Expert in a Year Challenge: Guy goes from table tennis novice to unstoppable champ in 12 months

How long do you think it’d take you to go from table tennis beginner to table tennis pro? Oh, just a year.

Watch as Sam Priestly takes just 12 months to become an incredible table tennis player, just shy of breaking the top 250 players in England.

Priestly was under the guidance of table tennis coach Ben Larcombe, who holds the fundamental belief that everyone has the potential to become an expert at the sport.

Using this as his foundation, Larcombe recruited friend Sam Priestly to be his ‘guinea pig’ throughout 2014. The aim was to complete an Expert in a Year Challenge and have Priestly playing competitively against the pros within a year.

The idea behind the Expert in a Year Challenge is self-explanatory – to get people to master a new skill within a year. And just as the video indicates, it’s definitely possible.

A new subreddit has even been created for people who are eager to accomplish their own goals. Speaking Mandarin, playing golf and video editing are among the top tasks people want to master.
