If you felt like the world was slightly off-balance over the weekend, you were right.
Donald Trump’s son, Eric, spent a flight sitting next to a Muslim comedian named Mohammed. And neither of them tried to strangle the other.
Look, I’m as surprised as you…and as surprised as Mo was as well. He was upgraded to business class, and said of the attendant who handed him the boarding pass “I didn’t know she was handing me my next comedy album”.
Mo Amer, who has been quite vocal about Trump and his policies in his stand-up shows, took a few minutes before jumping right into asking all the questions he could think of. Of particular concern to a Muslim American, whose family were asylum seekers, was the “nationally implemented” database of Muslims that Donald Trump has been vocal about.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Eric was just trying to guarantee himself a peaceful flight, because he assured Mo Amer that the Trump administration definitely won’t be pressuring Muslim Americans to sign up to a national register. Except that his dad has been pretty keen about the idea…on multiple occasions.
Hey guys heading to Scotland to start the U.K. Tour and I am "randomly" chosen to sit next to non other than Eric Trump. Good news guys Muslims will not have to check in and get IDs. That's what I was told. I will be asking him a lot of questions on this trip to Glasgow, Scotland. Sometimes God just sends you the material. #Merica #UKTour #HumanAppeal #ThisisNotAnEndorsement #Trump2016ComedyTour
I’d love to know which other questions Amer asked, but we’ll have to wait until his next stand-up show, I guess. Fingers crossed that Eric gets invited to come along, and wears his
swanky Trump sweater and pink tie.
